Barrels possessing the “WP” evidence mark but no “Oval P” would reveal a possible non-mail purchase barrel swapped outside the Winchester repair service shop.

As I've read, the barrels started to get the “WP” at around 1905, and then by 1908 both equally the receiver and barrel had been stamped with the “WP”. Were being assembled receivers and barrels proved for a device (to obtain the “WP”), or were barrels proved using a take a look at receiver? If tested being an assembled receiver & barrel, I could have an understanding Winchester gun shop return policy of stamping each simultaneously, but at what place could be the proof used, subsequent to the final metal polishing but ahead of the bluing?

Commemoratives were being made in relatively substantial numbers and For that reason the “rarity” generating the collector price is grossly less than the initial Winchester models that have become antique collector objects today. Even so, an impressive collection of Winchester Commemoratives is often assembled for a fraction of the price of the antique models, and all in new to nearly new ailment.
